Today, I’d like to talk about “Juvelook,” one of the most popular collagen boosters available.

Juvelook is a treatment that offers similar effects to Sculptra (PLLA) but is preferred by many due to its fewer side effects and relatively affordable cost.

However, it’s also true that the results of Juvelook can vary depending on the method of administration.

While pain and swelling usually subside naturally over time,
if nodules form, the side effects may persist for an extended period,
so caution is necessary.

In this post, I will explain why nodular side effects from Juvelook occur
and how they can be prevented.

1. ジュベロックの副作用とは?

The most common side effects are “pain and swelling after the procedure.”

The face is intricately interwoven with nerves and blood vessels like a network,
and if these are accidentally damaged during the procedure,

it can lead to nerve damage, bruising, bleeding, or severe swelling.

Normally, Juvelook procedures are performed using a blunt-tip cannula,
which makes nerve or blood vessel damage relatively rare.

However, if the practitioner applies excessive force or tries to forcibly penetrate tissue,
there is a risk of causing damage, so careful attention is required.

Juvelook Nodules (Nodule)

The most serious side effect is the formation of nodules (Nodules or Granulomas).

If bumpy nodules form under the eyes, they do not disappear easily and, in severe cases, may require surgical removal.

2. What Causes Juvelook Nodules?

그림7.jpg

There are several causes.

The first is an “incomplete hydration (dissolution) process by the practitioner.”

Juvelook comes in the form of porous beads, and the ampoule itself is a freeze-dried powder.

Before the procedure, it must be thoroughly dissolved in saline using a mixer for at least two hours.

If this step is insufficient, the powder can clump together, potentially leading to localized nodule formation.

If the hydration time is shortened due to a busy schedule, the powder may not fully dissolve, increasing the risk of excessive localized nodule formation.

The second cause is “improper adjustment of the injection volume.”

Juvelook works by stimulating cells that produce collagen, thereby inducing an inflammatory response.

However, if an excessive amount is injected into a specific area, it can trigger an overly intense inflammatory reaction at that site, leading to side effects.

The third cause is “the selection of the treatment area and injection depth.”

Juvelook needs to be administered into the lower layer of the dermis.

However, if the same depth is used in areas with thin skin—especially under the eyes or on the forehead—nodules are more likely to become visible and noticeable.

The fourth cause is “issues with concentration.”

While the manufacturer provides a recommended concentration for treatment,
this concentration may be too high for areas with thin skin.

3. How to Prevent Nodule-Related Side Effects

So, how can the nodular side effects of Juvelook be prevented?

그림4 (1).jpg

The answer is to simply do the opposite of the causes mentioned above :)

  • Ensure sufficient hydration before the procedure

  • Inject at the correct depth and with an appropriate amount

  • Use a diluted concentration for patients or areas with thin skin

By following just these three points, side effects can be significantly reduced, and better results can be achieved.

Of course, adhering to all of these takes more time and requires adjusting the concentration for each individual patient.

However, since nodule-related side effects can become irreversible and may even require surgery in severe cases,
it is extremely important to receive the procedure safely.

I hope this information is helpful to many of you.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a “like” or a comment—I’ll be happy to respond kindly and thoroughly.

Thank you very much.
