Recently, almost all dermatology clinics offer Rejuran treatments, so many of you might have already heard of it.

 

What are the ingredients and effects of Rejuran?

 

The ingredient in Rejuran is a substance called PolyNucleotide (PN), which is extracted from salmon testes.

 

PN is an element that makes up DNA in our body, and when injected into the dermis, it is effective in wound healing and regeneration.

 

Therefore, the effect of Rejuran is not only on skin elasticity but also on improving the dermis.

 

*Recently, there have been other brand products using PN extracted from trout (not salmon), such as Rizene, Vitalan, and Philod.

 

The most common products seen in the market are Rizene and Philod, which have almost the same ingredients and similar effects. (The pain is also similar.)

 

What is the difference between PDRN and PN?

 

Many people often think that the ingredient in Rejuran is PDRN, but PDRN and PN have the same purpose of dermal regeneration and wound healing, but they are strictly different substances. (There is also a significant price difference.)

Initially, PDRN, known as the "salmon injection," was used for dermal injections.

 

PDRN is still actively used in injections, skin boosters, and cosmetics and is a substance that helps with skin regeneration, but it has the drawback of breaking down quickly.

 

Therefore, PN is used to compensate for this disadvantage.

 

The difference between PDRN and PN is in their molecular structure.

PN, as shown in the diagram above, is composed of a long chain with a repeating structure.

 

Its molecular weight is at least 3 to 4 times larger than PDRN, so it stays in the skin for a longer period and, by absorbing moisture, it produces a water-glow effect.

 

What are the types of Rejuran?

 

There are three types of Rejuran.

1. Rejuran

2. Rejuran S（Scar）

3. Rejuran I（Eye）

4. Rejuran HB

 

Rejuran S is a model aimed at improving scars, with a higher concentration of PN compared to regular Rejuran. (Due to the higher PN concentration, the side effect of prolonged embouchure remains, and it is also more expensive.)

 

Rejuran I is a model specifically designed for the eye area. Since the skin around the eyes is thin, the embouchure remains for a long time and can be uncomfortable, so the PN concentration is further reduced in this model. (Although the PN concentration is lower, the price is still high...)

 

Finally, Rejuran HB is known as the "pain-free Rejuran" due to its very strong pain. It contains lidocaine (an anesthetic), which reduces pain, but the price is even higher.

(Lidocaine itself is very cheap, though...)

 

What is important when getting Rejuran treatment at many hospitals?

 

1. Reasonable Treatment Price: Since Rejuran is originally an expensive treatment, the price per session is high.

 

However, there is no need to pay unnecessarily high prices for the same treatment.

 

Make sure to first compare the prices of Rejuran at different hospitals.

 

2. Treatment Depth and Range: The experimental papers regarding Rejuran's effectiveness were conducted by injecting Rejuran into the dermis.

In the human face, the thickness of the dermis is less than 2mm, so it's not easy to inject all 2cc of Rejuran (one injection) into the dermis.

 

Therefore, one reason why some people experience results while others do not is that Rejuran may not have been injected into the correct layer.

If Rejuran is injected correctly into the dermis, it is normal for the injection site to appear slightly raised.

 

Assuming all 2cc of Rejuran is injected into the dermis, minimizing the amount wasted outside the skin, the treatment can be densely applied to the entire face, excluding the forehead.

 

(Immediately after treatment, there may be significant swelling, but it will quickly disappear if gently pressed with the hand.)

 

If, after the treatment, there is almost no swelling from Rejuran, and despite receiving 2cc, only a small area was treated, it is highly likely that it was not injected at the correct depth, or most of the substance was lost.

Generally, with 2cc, you can fill both cheeks with the minimum amount as shown above.

 

In reality, if the purpose was for a photo, it might have been injected more neatly, but since we do not compare before and after shots of Rejuran injections, I used the photo as it is.

 

(Since there are many patients, this photo was taken during a busy period, so please understand that the injection may not be uniform.)

 

I am not perfect, and I'm not trying to boast about being good at injecting.

 

However, if you receive Rejuran 2cc and the face doesn’t look at least like this, it’s likely that the injection depth was too deep or most of it was lost.

 

Many people are misled by photos of "places that do Rejuran well" and promotional dense images circulating on the internet.

 

When they actually receive the injections, they realize that it wasn’t done like that, and the 2cc results are not as expected.
